First look at HBO’s new Harry Potter Series: production has begun!

Wands at the ready, Potterheads — the magic has officially begun at Leavesden! Warner Bros. Studios has kicked off production for the highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series. And as a bonus, we’ve just gotten our first look at the new Harry and a few exciting cast additions!

It’s really happening — the very first photos of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter are here! He’s already suited up in Hogwarts robes and, of course, wearing those iconic round glasses. If you’re tearing up a little, same here.

New faces join the cast

Besides Dominic, the magical cast list is growing fast!

  • Rory Wilmot has been cast as Neville Longbottom (amazing!)

  • Amos Kitson will play Dudley Dursley (brace yourselves)

  • Louise Brealey will take on the role of Madam Rolanda Hooch

  • Anton Lesser will portray legendary wandmaker Garrick Ollivander

A magical mix of fresh talent and seasoned performers ready to bring Hogwarts back to life.

Everything we know so far

The series is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod (The Last of Us) directing multiple episodes. J.K. Rowling is involved as an executive producer alongside Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts (Brontë Film and TV), and David Heyman (Heyday Films – yes, the original film producer!).

When can we watch?

The Harry Potter TV series is set to premiere in 2027, exclusively on HBO and HBO Max. It’s really starting to feel real now, isn’t it?
