New Harry Potter Books in 2027: McGonagall and the Weasley Twins
Two new Harry Potter books are on the way for February 2027, one about Professor McGonagall and one about Fred and George Weasley. Before you clear shelf space for a new adventure, though: these are not new novels, but illustrated guides in the Pocket Potters series.
Not new novels
Both books are new additions to Bloomsbury’s Pocket Potters series, reports The Tab. One is devoted to Professor McGonagall, the other to the Weasley twins.
The books are aimed partly at younger readers discovering the Wizarding World, but also at longtime fans who want to revisit the stories. Bloomsbury describes the series as little guides packed with new details about the characters.
The publisher’s own listings tie the books directly to the HBO series arriving this Christmas.
What’s inside
The books are full of story moments, quotes, facts, hidden details and Easter eggs, according to FandomWire.
The McGonagall volume covers why she buys Harry his first broomstick, which animal she can transform into, and what a ‘Hatstall’ is. The Fred and George volume follows the twins’ knowledge of Hogwarts’ secret passages, their Canary Creams and pranks, and the road to Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.
Both books are published on 23 February 2027 and are already available to pre-order.
Timed for the HBO series
The choice of characters lines up neatly with the new show. Janet McTeer plays McGonagall in the HBO series, while real-life brothers Tristan and Gabriel Harland play Fred and George, FandomWire points out.
All three characters appear from the very first story, so viewers meeting them on screen this Christmas will find the books waiting about two months later.
For younger fans in particular, that makes the series a natural bridge from screen to page. The original novels remain the real thing, but a short illustrated guide is an easier first step for a child who has just watched the Sorting Hat at work.
