Harry Potter TV Series Premieres Christmas 2026 – HBO Drops First Official Trailer

The magic is returning to our screens! HBO has officially released the first teaser for its highly anticipated Harry Potter tv series, confirming a Christmas 2026 premiere date. The first season, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, promises a faithful and magical adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved book.

The teaser offers a glimpse into the new era of the Wizarding World, showcasing the newly cast golden trio: Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Fans also get a first look at some of the adult cast, including John Lithgow as the wise Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as the stern Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as the gentle giant Rubeus Hagrid.

The trailer captures key moments from the first book, including Harry’s miserable life with the Dursleys, the arrival of his Hogwarts acceptance letter, and his awe-inspiring first steps into Diagon Alley. The teaser features two memorable quotes that will resonate with fans. First, Hagrid’s comforting words to Harry: “Your parents were the bravest, kindest people I’ve ever met … they stood up for what they think is right. … Next time I see you will be in Hogwarts.” Later, the enigmatic wandmaker Ollivander tells a young Harry, “Mr. Potter, I think we can expect great things from you.”

The series is set to be a decade-long production, with each season dedicated to one of the seven books. This extended format will allow for a deeper and more detailed exploration of the story, something fans have long been hoping for. The show is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes. J.K. Rowling is also involved as an executive producer, alongside Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films, who also produced the original film series.

The HBO Original Series will debut on Christmas Day, 2026, on HBO and will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max in all available markets, including the recently launched regions of Germany, Italy, and the UK & Ireland. With a star-studded cast and a commitment to a faithful adaptation, the new Harry Potter series is shaping up to be the television event of the decade.
